As we sat sipping our first french cappucinos and espressos at an outdoor cafe, an Asian woman approached us with a small baby in a stroller. She then pointed in the distance, said some words in what was deemed by us to be Chinese, and walked away, leaving the squirt with us! The child gradually became distraught, and Sara felt the need to whip out the only CHinese she knew, calling the child “so-so” (Ma-ma-hoo-hoo in chinese). It proceeded to burst into tears, only to be comforted by a ballpoint pen, the best childtoy Sara had on her person, while Pam took this picture. Who knows, maybe she got the pitch a little wrong and told the baby the end was near??? Anyways, it was upset, we floundered for 15 minutes until the mom came back, and we fled the scene a little more experienced in parenting than when we arrived in Europe…
